Old Iffley Village Nursery ...

Iffley: The Bell Tower

A beautiful Montessori nursery school in the heart of old Iffley Village...

A sample of the things Ofsted said at our last inspection in November 1996...

'Helping children achieve well and enjoy what they do...'

"The provision is good. Children settle quickly on arrival in the calm atmosphere of the nursery."

'Protecting children from harm or neglect and helping them stay safe...'

"The provision is good. The children play in a warm and welcoming environment in a well maintained thatched village hall."

'Nursery Education ...'

"The quality of teaching and learning is good. Children are developing positive attitudes about learning since they follow their own interests and they readily explore the good range of stimulating activities in the indoor environment.

At play

  • Iffley Montessori nursery is held in the attractive Church Hall in secluded Iffley Village..

  • The Hall provides a spacious environment for children, in a beautiful and homely room, where children feel safe, secure and welcome. Small enough to enable them to feel secure and not overwhelmed, and large enough to allow space to explore, learn and have fun, it provides an ideal environment just minutes from the vibrant areas of Iffley and Cowley, and within easy reach of the city centre. Iffley is a small but lively school, where children have space and safety in which to allow their imaginations to develop.

Iffley Village

  • At two years’ old, no more than 4 children work in a group with one teacher. In the classroom, children enjoy choosing a wide range of activities from the shelves of Montessori materials. The space is large enough for the children to really broaden their learning horizons with the learning materials, and special activities such as drama and music sessions in which all ages can participate. At three years’ old and above, each teacher works with the children in key groups of no more than 8 children. All the staff are qualified, experienced Montessori teachers. Enthusiastic, warm and friendly, the staff provide a caring, nurturing, fun and exciting environment for the children.

  • Nearby Iffley fields and Iffley Lock provide lovely and interesting settings for the children to go on walks and learn about their environment. The large garden with great play facilities also provides a fantastic outdoor area for the children to explore.

  • The nursery has an imaginative cook, who provides healthy lunches and snacks (organic where possible) for the children, which are extremely popular.

  • The nursery offers term-time only places and all-year-round (50 weeks) daycare places at affordable prices. Iffley also runs our Create holiday and after-school club during all school holiday periods. Children can come along for whole weeks, or occasional sessions to participate in arts and crafts, claywork, cookery, drama - something for everyone, every day!
